Peter's favorite restaurant, Carmelina's (the full name is Carmelina's at the Commons), is now the place to hear him play on a regular basis, every Thursday evening from 6 to 9:30 pm. Diners can sit nearby Peter, while enjoying authentic Italian cuisine, creatively prepared by the brilliant Chef Martin Amaya. Signature dishes include some of the original menu items such as Crazy Alfredo, Ossobuco and Chicken Cardinale.
Peter's personal favorite is the Rosette- fresh pasta rolls filled with Prosciutto, spinach and Provolone, with a pink tomato and basil sauce. "You can't eat it without a smile on your face. I spent many years in Italy, I have my all-time favorite restaurants, trattorias and osterias in places like Florence, Lucca, Fiesole, Voltérra, etc. For me, Carmelina's is like a visit back to Tuscany for a meal."
"The tradition of playing music for poeple who have gathered to enjoy a meal, maybe they're celebrating something in particular, or just out to enjoy really special food- that is a part of music-making that I enjoy wholeheartedly. I always thought that the idea of a regular gig, right in one's own neighborhood, was something I'd love to do, much like the great virtuoso Les Paul does in New York at the the Iridium Club every Monday. Carmalina's has had Emery Smith playing fabulous Jazz on the piano on the weekends for years, which I have enjoyed as a customer many times. I thought; why not some renaissance lute music, or Bach, or my Italian Film score arrangements? So, I came in to speak with Debbie, Dave and Martin about it and here I am. I love it.
People who know me come in to just hear what I am playing these days. Other folks who've never heard my music before will hear me for the first time; this is what I love about being here at Carmelina's. That, and the food! The staff here, everybody, makes the place feel so special, it makes it a great way to connect with people - a celebration of life through food and music. Come in and say hello- maybe a request? If I know it- you'll hear it."
